If you've encountered a student who is more into technology than the lesson, use it in the lesson..
A little sincerity can mean the world of difference for an at risk student. They know when someone doesn't care and working with them is "just a job". Show sincerity and be genuine, they can tell the difference.
It's back to school time!!!! Be sure to be very present with your students. This means, ensure that students see that you are bringing your "A" game and expect the same of them. Be the success you want them to reflect.
To build an excellent program: Monitor your students, survey their needs and be sure to meet those needs. This is youth development excellence.
We know that your days are filled with many items that come across your desks, programs and classrooms each day. However, what action steps are you taking to ensure that your students are staying actively and intensely engaged? Reserve time and ensure that you plan for this so it happens. Our students need it.
Advertise to your students why they should be excited.
There are many ways to do this. One is by keeping students intrigued by giving exciting snapshots and previews of lessons to come!
Explain to students that you are personally invested in their success at some point during instruction.
You can do this by sharing a personal story of a time you learned, and how it impacted you. |
